Digital Photography Books

I have heard countless stories of people getting gadget happy, and purchasing a fancy camera which they no intention to use, aside from at the occasional birthday bash. When the camera finally comes out and the dust is blown off the casing, most people have no clue in how to use it to its full potential. If you are going to splash your cash on a digital camera I strongly recommend purchasing a book full of handy hints and tips. There is plethora of books claiming to be able to tell you the best information all about digital photography techniques, but which are worth parting with your hard earned money for?

The Digital SLR Handbook, Michael Freeman:

This is a crucial manual for serious amateur photographers who are switching from the conventional film camera to digital. It discusses all the common problem which traditional photographers will stumble across when first using the digital camera. Michael Freeman seems to be able to provide an answer for all the questions you need answers to and explains confusing matters. You can expect to find information on sensors, resolution, dynamic range, noise versus film grain and many more topics. I doubt that there is another book which covers the number of subjects that Freeman manages.

The Photographer’s Eye: Composition and Design for Better Digital Photos

The Photographer’s Eye provides a different view to photography and emphasises it as an art form. It echoes the idea that photography is often neglected as art because it isn’t a drawing or painting.  The author manages to engage the reader in a proactive manner, encouraging you to turn your photography into art.

Ebay Photos That Sell

This is one of my favourite photography books due to it’s quirky nature. Who doesn’t have an Ebay account these days? You will know yourself that you are drawn to the items up for auction with a photograph, but which photo is the best for Ebay? A good photograph can draw attention to your product and make it stand out from the crowd, therefore creating more profit for you. The book describes how to take the perfect Ebay photograph from jewellery to golf clubs. The author is very considerate as it explains how to make the most of your equipment, without having to buy anything else.

Along with the invention of the digital camera, came the wonders of image editing tools, and one of the forerunners in this field is Adobe Photoshop. This software enables photographers to enhance and edit the photograph after it has been uploaded onto the computer. This guide shows you how to work your way through all the features on Photoshop, allowing your work to look more professional. This is a fantastic comprehensive guide to the software and is a definite must for anyone with Photoshop.
